The license, via USB dongle, for Chesapeake software, SONARWIZ. has been donated to the CO-OP by Michael Faught
SONARWIZ v. 6.04 was used to process and enhance Sportscan side scan sonar data from SPLASH projects on the Silver River, Florida. The data were used to combine sonar data with magnetometer data to find the 1970 excavation units at the Guest Mammoth (8MR130), a submerged precontact association of extinct fauna and artifacts.
Contact 016 from Clint’s Scallop Hole, Apalachee Bay, Florida. “Haystacks” are used to refer to the jiggles in the seismic data that indicate human altered lithics. The theory of operation is known as Human Altered Lithic Detection, or HALD. Contact 016 was tested positive for chipped stone artifacts by divers. Sub-bottom data taken with the ARCO-OP NCPTT sub-bottom and processed with SONOARWIZ software. Figure from Faught and Smith 2021. See Grøn et al. 2020
SONARWIZ v 6.04 was used to process sub-bottom profiler data taken from Lake George, Florida, in 2017. The results are presented in the final report for that project (Thulman 2018)
